       Mission Education

The Mission Education program of Gramin Vikas Samiti, supported by Smile Foundation, has been creating a meaningful impact since 2015 in Surat Nagar, Phase 2, Gurugram. The program focuses on supporting around 200 underprivileged children aged 6 to 14 years, particularly those who are out of school or have dropped out of formal education. Through structured learning interventions, bridge courses, and a nurturing environment, the initiative helps reintegrate these children into the education system. In addition, evening remedial classes are conducted for school-going children to strengthen their academic performance and reduce dropout rates. As a result of these consistent efforts, nearly 60% of the children are successfully mainstreamed into Government schools at the end of each year, reflecting the program’s strong commitment to ensuring access to quality education and building a brighter future for disadvantaged children.

National Child Labour Program

Under the National Child Labour Program supported by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Gramin Vikas Samiti has emerged as a key implementing agency in District Gurugram, delivering impactful and sustainable interventions for the rehabilitation of child labourers. Through a well-structured network of 12 Special Training Centres, the organization reaches approximately 1,200 child labourers every year, adopting a holistic approach that integrates bridge education, primary healthcare, nutrition, and psychosocial support. The program is designed not only to withdraw children from labour but also to restore their childhood with dignity and opportunity. With focused academic support and continuous counseling, nearly 60% of the children are successfully mainstreamed into formal schooling each year, marking a significant step toward long-term social inclusion. The provision of nutritious meals and stipends helps address economic vulnerabilities and encourages regular attendance, while targeted vocational training for adolescent girls equips them with life skills and livelihood opportunities, promoting gender empowerment. This comprehensive model has significantly contributed to breaking the cycle of poverty and child labour, fostering a pathway toward education, health, and a more secure future for vulnerable children.

Malaria Eradication Program

Under the Malaria Eradication Program supported by the District Malaria Office Gurugram and the Health Department Haryana, Gramin Vikas Samiti plays a vital role in preventing and controlling vector-borne diseases such as malaria and dengue across District Gurugram. Every year during the monsoon season, the organization deploys a dedicated team of around 50 trained breeding checkers who conduct extensive field visits covering households and high-risk areas. These teams actively identify potential mosquito breeding sites such as coolers, flower pots, stagnant and contaminated water bodies, and small pools, and carry out targeted spraying of anti-larval medicines. In addition to chemical control measures, the program emphasizes community awareness by educating residents on preventive practices and sanitation. This proactive and systematic intervention significantly reduces the risk of disease outbreaks during the rainy season and contributes to building a healthier and safer environment for the community.

Sarva Shikha Abhiyan

Under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan – Alternative and Innovative Education initiative supported by the Haryana Prathmik Shiksha Pariyojna Parishad, Gramin Vikas Samiti implemented a comprehensive, community-driven education model in Tauru Block of District Nuh (Mewat) and District Gurugram. Entrusted with the संचालन of 50 centres in Mewat and 25 centres in Gurugram, the organization focused on bringing out-of-school, dropout, and marginalized children into the fold of education through bridge courses, basic literacy, numeracy, and life skills using flexible and child-friendly teaching methods.

A distinctive feature of the program was its strong focus on adolescent girls aged 12 to 16 years, for whom dedicated vocational training centres were established alongside education centres. These centres provided practical skills such as tailoring, mudda (stool) making, dari (carpet) weaving, and other livelihood-oriented activities, enabling girls to become economically empowered while continuing their education. The program also emphasized community mobilization, parental counseling, and awareness on health, hygiene, and social issues, helping to overcome social barriers, especially for girls’ education.

Through regular assessments, innovative pedagogy, and close coordination with government schools, a significant number of children were successfully mainstreamed into formal education. This integrated approach not only improved enrollment and retention but also equipped young girls with valuable skills for self-reliance, thereby contributing to both educational inclusion and socio-economic empowerment in the region.

Impalenment with Ministry of Handicrafts

Gramin Vikas Samiti, in partnership with the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), has been playing a transformative role in revitalizing traditional handicrafts and enhancing the socio-economic status of artisans. Through flagship initiatives such as the Guru Shishya Hastshilp Prashikshan Program, the organization facilitates structured and timely training programs in crafts like embroidery and crochet, ensuring the preservation and transfer of age-old skills from master artisans to the next generation. These interventions not only safeguard cultural heritage but also upgrade the technical and design capabilities of artisans to meet contemporary market demands.

Further strengthening livelihood opportunities, the Samiti has supported artisans with critical tools and resources, including the distribution of 50 sewing machines to 50 artisans, significantly improving their productivity and income potential. Complementing skill development with market access, Gramin Vikas Samiti organizes the prestigious Gandhi Shilp Bazaar at Karnal every year, featuring around 40 stalls showcasing exquisite handicrafts from across India. This vibrant platform enables artisans to directly connect with customers, explore new markets, and gain national-level exposure.

Through this integrated approach of skill development, infrastructure support, and market linkage, Gramin Vikas Samiti has not only empowered artisans economically but also contributed to the preservation and promotion of India’s rich and diverse handicraft traditions, creating a sustainable ecosystem for artisan growth and cultural continuity.

Menstrual Health and Hygiene

Gramin Vikas Samiti has been actively implementing a focused initiative on menstrual health and hygiene in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, with support from Grand Challenges Canada under its FCRA program. The project aims to break long-standing taboos and improve awareness among adolescent girls and women through structured education sessions, community engagement, and behavior change communication. It emphasizes the importance of safe menstrual practices, access to hygienic products, and proper disposal methods, thereby promoting dignity and health. The program also works closely with local communities, schools, and stakeholders to create an enabling environment where menstrual health is openly discussed and addressed. By combining awareness, accessibility, and empowerment, the initiative has contributed to improved health outcomes, increased school attendance among girls, and a gradual shift in societal attitudes towards menstrual hygiene.
